Equipment Spotlight

Rammer, part of Sandvik Mining & Construction, launched a several new products at this year’s Hillhead quarry show in England including the G 110 hydraulic hammer, the B 125 Baby Boom and four crusher/cutter models.

The G 110 is a 3800 kg unit designed for use with carriers in the 40 to 70-tonne operating weight class. Its introduction follows on the heels of the recently developed 6600 kg G 130, the largest hammer in the company’s hammer line-up.   The G 110 has the ability to accept oil flow levels from 220 to 350 litres/min, making it suitable for use with most carriers. The unit is available with the optional ProController system that allows the operator to adjust the impact energy of the hammer from the carrier machine’s cab. This micro-processor driven system, which can be activated and deactivated using touch-sensitive buttons on the ProController keypad, allows the operator to select between three operating modes, normal, boost and economy, to suit the application and material to be broken.

The Rammer B 125 Baby Boom is the latest addition to Rammer’s range of pedestal boom systems. Designed specifically for recycling and demolition jobs using track-mounted crushers or portable primary plants, the B 125 features a Rammer S21 hammer on a compact pedestal that does not increase the transport dimensions of the crusher. The Baby Boom employs a simple one-piece boom. Powered from the crusher’s own hydraulic circuit, the boom is mounted on the crusher via a durable pedestal. According to Rammer, installing a stationary breaker will increase crusher throughput by more than 20 per cent.

Four models of Rammer cutter crushers, the RD 7, RD 15, RD 18 and RD 32, were introduced at Hillhead 2001 for carriers in the 6 to 35-tonne operating weight class. All four Rammer RD models are designed to be as light as possible while delivering optimum cutting and crushing forces. Key to the power of the RD models is a new narrow jaw design that allows each unit to be used in applications where operating space is at a premium. The new jaws are designed to produce their maximum crushing force even when they are fully open.  Crushing teeth are locked into place mechanically for fast replacement. The maximum crushing force ranges from 520 kN to 1,500 kN.

The new cutter crushers also feature curved cutting blades set deep in the throat of the jaws to prevent the ingress of concrete, minimizing blade wear and extending blade life. The use of a single hydraulic ram, extensive wear material around the jaws and well-protected hydraulic hoses enhance long-term durability. The maximum cutting force ranges from 1,200 kN to 3,400 kN.

All RD models feature full 360-degree rotation to ensure that the jaw is in the optimum working position at all times.
